SuperSpy

This mission, usually available only to the Romulans, will enable the ship to gather almost all the available information about a planet which it is orbiting:

The resources on the planet's surface, including supplies and megacredits (in fact the figures for minerals include the minerals in the core, as with the Dark Sense)

The structures on the planet - mines, factories and defence posts

The friendly code

Since any ship in orbit can determine the temperature of a planet, the number of colonists on it and the presence of a starbase, the only information not available to ships performing this mission is any native population (cf. Bioscanners).

Any ship with a cloaking device which performs this mission will also cloak. Note that unlike some other missions, this mission does not require beams in order to be carried out.

Unlike any other special mission, this one has a 'Deluxe' version. With Deluxe Super Spy, the ship can actually change the friendly code of the planet to match its own. Note, that a ship that matches a planet's friendly code will surrender to a starbase, if the base's mission is set to "force a surrender"; only those ships on a superspy mission are exempt from this rule, not any ship trying to beam up stuff.

The standard version of the superspy mission is carried out after the movement phase while the deluxe part is carried out before movement.

The standard version will tell you next to the normal exploration message more about the planet:

From: SWIFT HEART CLASS SC
At:Rilok
The planet has 22181 megacredits
100 mineral mines
150 factories
100 defense outposts
The planetary friendly code is : yes
Minerals on/in planet
N: 6171 M: 2206 T: 2253 D: 3990
Supplies : 14277

With a 20% chance the victim will be told that information has been gathered and will receive a message like

(-p0442)<<< Planetary Message >>>

From: Rilok
We have found Bird Man
spies on the planet.
They have the planet's
friendly code!

If the Deluxe part was successful, you get a message that reads

(-s0001)<<< Spy Report >>>

From: Swift
Our spy team has
changed the planetary
friendly code on: Rio Linda ID # 298
to: spy

while the victim will receive a message that informs him or her:

(-p0298)<<< Planetary Message >>>

Distress CALL!
From: Rio Linda
We have found Bird Man
spies on the planet.
They have CHANGED the planet's
friendly code!
The code is now: spy

A planet that is subject to a successful change of its FC and has at least 30 defence posts can sacrifice 10 of them in order to send out an Ionic Pulse. An Ionic Pulse will decloak any ship in the planet's orbit. Given a sucessful FC change, a planet has a 20% chance to send out an Ionic Pulse. If the FC is changed to the special friendly code "mfX", the universal minefield FC, a planet with more than 30 defence posts will always send out an Ionic Pulse. The victim will receive a message like

(-p0298)<<< Planetary Message >>>

Distress CALL!
From: Rio Linda
We have found Bird Man
spies on the planet.
They have CHANGED the planet's
friendly code!
The code is now: spy
Defense outposts using an
ion discharge overload to
decloak all ships in orbit.
Ten outposts sacrificed.

while the Romulan will get a message like

(-s0001)<<< Spy Report >>>

From: Swift
Our spy team has
changed the planetary
friendly code on: Rio Linda ID # 298
to: spy
Enemy defense outposts
are using an ion
discharge overload
to decloak all ships in orbit!
They sacrificed ten outposts.

Consult your host documentation to find out whether Deluxe Super Spy is enabled in your game. Look for the entry AllowDeluxeSuperSpy.
